Tango in the Spring aims for social tango nirvana. Our milonga program is based around good traditional tango music from experienced DJs in a comfortable and attractive venue. Plus, we have a few extra social activities for your enjoyment. All events are at the grand old Albert Hall this year (see below for venue details).

Friday September 30Welcome 7.15 – 8pm
The grand old Albert Hall is our venue for the whole festival. Argentina’s Deputy Head of Mission, Leandro Waisman, will welcome you with a free welcome drink and empanadas sponsored by the Embassy of Argentina.Welcome Milonga 8pm–1am with DJ José Argañarás
Ease into the festival, meet old and new friends. Basic bar service with local wines by the glass, until 11.45pm. Snacks (around 10.30pm) to keep you going.
Saturday October 1Lunch 12.30pm-2pm prebooked only
Argentinian street-food style lunch catered by Chimmi. No sales on the day, sorry. BYO drinks — no bar service.Practica 2pm-4pm
An informal practica — or just hang out and listen and chat. This is also the regular Social Club of Canberra practica, so you can meet some other Canberra dancers. This event is free and open to the public.Saturday night milonga 8pm–1am with DJ Fabian Conca
Have a rest, grab some dinner, then come back for 5 hours of great music and dancing. Basic bar service with local wines by the glass, until 11.45pm. Snacks (around 10.30pm) to keep you going.
Sunday October 2Practica #2 with a little live music 2pm-4.30pm with shopping
Another informal practica, this time with a live music break at 3pm with local Canberra banoneonista Rodolfo Caivano, unplugged and unamplified — gather close and hear the breath of the bandoneon. And Tengo Tango will have men's and ladies' tango shoes plus ladies practice flats and heels, also Tangolon Tango pants for men. Another big milonga! Last of the evening milongas at TISP2022. Soak up the beauty of the environment and dance the night away. Basic bar service with local wines by the glass, until 11.45pm. Snacks (around 10.30pm) to keep you going.
Monday October 3Monday farewell milonga, 12–5pm with DJ Yuko Kinoshita
The Albert Hall, this time in daylight. Dance until 5pm with great music, and gradually farewell those who have to leave early. Snacks available, no bar service.
At the three evening milongas, all tables and seating are pre-allocated. We have tried to accommodate people who asked to sit together. Welcome volunteers will take you to your table. Feel free to move around as the night progresses, but we want to make sure everyone has their booked seat at their table when they arrive. Seating on Monday is unallocated.
In a real emergency, dial 000. If you need to contact an organiser for something really important, try Yuko on 0412 448 934 — but she will be pretty busy, so please be patient.
Venue: Albert Hall
The historic Albert Hall will be the venue for the whole event. For the evening milongas, we are running a basic bar service with local wines by the glass. For the lunch, BYO.
Albert Hall: 100 Commonwealth Ave, Yarralumla
There is some parking in the streets immediately around the venue, and a lot more just on the other side of Commonwealth Avenue at “Langton Car Park”. There is a pedestrian underpass from there that comes out just near the venue.
Let’s be responsible — please don't come to any event if you have Covid symptoms, or a positive test, or quarantine requirements. Let us know if you find out you may have been Covid positive at one of the events — we won't reveal your name, but we will warn people to be on the lookout. We have some increased hygiene systems. There will be hand sanitiser available. Some people may choose to wear masks, or limit their dance partners. Please respect their choices.
