Venues
We took on the feedback from last time that it was more important to have good floors than to necessarily change venue every night. So, the milonga venues are a mix of old and new, with Saturday and Sunday night in the same place. Here’s a map with all the venues — and you can click through to a larger version. Below we have details of each venue.

Friday, 1 October:
Welcome, 7-8pm (with ambassador’s talk at 7.15 –7.45pm), and milonga 8pm-12
St John’s Hall, Constitution Ave, Reid
A big hall with a high ceiling built in traditional 1960s wooderama style with a great wooden floor (and an … interesting … mural). Plenty of room to spread out. We’ll provide a cash bar (wine and beer by the bottle, and wine glasses) – but if you are there for the Argentine Ambassador’s introduction, there will also be some wine and empanadas courtesy of the Embassy. (NB no food in walking distance – eat before you come if you need dinner!). Parking is in the church parking area – access off Constitution Avenue.

Saturday, 2 October 2010:

See above for venue details. During the asado, we will again run a cash bar.
Tango til two: Saturday milonga 8.30pm – 2am
Italo Australia Club, Cnr National Cct and Franklin St, Forrest
Upstairs at the Italo Club is their big ballroom – the floor is parquetry on concrete. Full bar service from 8.30 (last drinks at 1.30). Onsite is a bistro (Australian & Italian-ish); and a Chinese restaurant. Free parking in the Club carpark, and in surrounding streets.

Sunday, 3 October 2010
Special something on Sunday: Tango at NewActon (2-4pm)
Diamant Hotel lobby, New Acton
The Diamant is a boutique hotel in the newish arty New Acton area. It’ll be pretty intimate (maybe we can fit 40 people in there?), but there will a tiny space for a bit of dancing. The Diamant Lounge Bar is adjacent, so you can listen from there as well. There is a good cafe at NewActon, and Parlour WIne Room will be open. Limited parking at NewActon; probably best to use the carpark on the other side of London Circuit — see map.

Tango til two –the sequel: Sunday milonga 8.30pm – 2am
Italo Australia Club, Cnr National Cct and Franklin St, Forrest
See above for venue details.
Monday, 4 October 2010
Tango at two: Monday afternoon milonga 2–6pm
Bogong Theatre, Gorman House Arts Centre, Ainslie Ave, Braddon
The “Bogong Theatre” is a small hall in the central building of Gorman House. We’ll open up an adjacent room as a lounge, and run a cash bar with bottled wine and beer — and there will be cake! It will be pretty intimate, and we won’t be allocating seating — better if everyone circulates among all their new friends! If the weather is good, we’ll open up the doors and we can spread out onto the verandas. Free parking in Batman Street, and on the far side of Ainslie Avenue.
