Bookings now open – buy online

April 29th, 2010 | Comments Off

We’ve got our online shop going — so now you can buy your ticket.

Only $60!  for four fabulous milongas, and a practica, and I’m sure there’ll be some other surprises we can pull out of the hat.  If you can only come for one or two events, you can also buy a single milonga ticket for just $20.

Why is it so cheap?  Because its a non-profit event, by dancers for dancers.. And all our effort (and your money) is going to make sure we have comfy venues, great music, and a friendly atmosphere. No expensive performances or workshops. The Friday opening milonga goes till midnight, and on Saturday and Sunday we dance till 2am.  On Monday there’s an afternoon milonga so you can dance with new friends a few more times, or just relax.

We’re working on getting an asado organised —  probably on Saturday before the practica.  There will be an extra charge for this.

When you’re not dancing or sleeping, there’s plenty to do and see in Canberra — including our spring flower festival, Floriade.

Hope to see you there! Oh, did we mention that you can book online?

“Ever since our first trip to Buenos Aires in 1999, I have been increasingly influenced by the great DJs there: Carlos Rey, Danny Borelli, Mario Orlando, and other lesser known names who create a fantastic atmosphere in traditional suburban milongas, such as La Baldosa and Sin Rumbo. They generously share their knowledge, if you show an interest. With each annual visit, I like to pick up more ideas and inspiration. In Adelaide, my partner Bob Youngson and I like to share some of the porteño tango culture though our teaching and milongas.” … more

2008 Final event! “Tango at two” – The farewell milonga

October 6th, 2008 | Comments Off

Chill out, relax and squeeze in a few more tandas. Come to the cosy Bogong Theatre at Gorman House Arts Centre, to dance, chat with friends, or just drink wine and listen to the thunder.

2 – 6pm
Bogong Theatre, Gorman House Arts Centre, Ainslie Ave, Braddon

That’s up the end of Ainslie Avenue away from the city centre — which can be a bit confusing because there’s a bit of Ainslie Avenue and then the shopping mall and then it starts again on the other side.

Phone Sophie if you are lost: 0400 591 092

$15 at the door if you haven’t pre-paid.
