All over for 2010 — thanks to everyone who came!
October 5th, 2010 Posted in 2010 newsWell that’s it for Tango in the Spring 2010. We had a great time, with lots of people from all over Australia plus our friends from across the ditch.
Please tell us what you thought! We’re thinking we might do it again. Just not this week…
And if you’ve got photos, maybe send us some at info@tangointhespring.org.au? Or post them on Facebook? — we’ve made a Facebook ‘fan page’ so you can stay in contact with us now the event is over.
Thanks to everyone!

Hi Yuko et al, super weekend and please try to find the energy to do it again. I’ll help more next time if you need. Only beef – interstate guys did not pull their weight and ddi not dance with Canberra girls. Canberra guys had to do it all. DJing by Pat on Sunday night was excellent – she should be invited back for sure. Sorry to have missed Monday but had commitments.

Thankyou to everyone involved in the event. It was superbly organised, beautifully decorated, extremely welcoming and lots of fun. Bob and I had a great time with Trisha, our generous hostess.
Thanks for your comments about my DJing, Michael. It was a real blast seeing everyone responding so well to my selection right through the night.
Hopefully, there will be a Tango in the Spring #3.

Well Michael, you might want to chat with Tricia, Jane, Yuko, Larissa, Erica, Kirsty, Anna, Dorothea, Carla, Sandrea, Connie, Stella, Christian, Lyn, and others whose names I have unfortunately forgotten – three lovely Asian ladies, the very friendly Latvian lady, the talented harpist, and another lady with whom I chatted on Monday. These are the Canberra ladies that I remember dancing with over the weekend, and there may have been more than this list of 20. Mind you, I knew from the start that my practice of using the “cabeceo” exclusively may cause me problems, but I persisted and as it turned out,the local girls were up to the challenge. I had a great time, so thanks to all these Canberra women for making me feel that I could’ve been back in BsAs.
Congratulations and heart-felt thanks to the team who organised and volunteered in what was a seamless event. We’re all going home to tell our locals what they missed out on and that they’d better make sure they get to the next one.

A bit of statistics here – We had about 39% Interstate people and 61% Canberran booked (+ quite a few Canberra people came without booking). Female:Male Ratio = 58% female.
So although most people are dancing with many different people, interstate leaders were seriously out numbered by the Canberra ladies. So even if they try, they could not dance with every Canberra ladies.
Maybe one solution to this: Interstate leaders, bring your mates next time! Canberra girls, travel to other cities and entice the leaders there to come to next TISP with your charm and dancing skills!
Personally, the room felt super friendly at every milonga. Thank you all for sharing such a lovely tango time with us!

Tisp 2 was even better than what I remembered of #1, if that is possible. I know there were a good many interstate leaders that I danced with over the weekend, so much so that I was somewhat footsore on Sunday which gave me an opportunity to sit back and enjoy Pat’s wonderful music, so refreshing! What made the weekend very special was hosting 3 lovely South Australian’s, Bob, Pat and Roger which made the event very special for me, as hosting forges new friendships in tango. Congrats to the organising committee and especially Helen and Neil with the fabulous decorations, I could only stand back and look in awe at the marvellous decorations that made this event so memorable. Also my thanks to all the hosts and volunteers who kindly offered their home and time to make this event work so seamlessly – a real indication that the tango community in Canberra is vibrant!!

It’s my first TIS,it’s brought my AT experience to a National level. I’m one of the fortunate Asian beginners to dance with atleast 7 best local & 7 Interstate leaders. Bob tried very hard to ‘Cabeceo’ me on my first night from the other side of the room. It’s very tricky when you’re short sighted. Anyway, thanks all the organisers for a very successful weekend.
Can’t wait till the next TIS!!!

Well done Bob, that’s probably a record, I take my hat off to you and I stand corrected. You guys don’t have to wait until the next TISP. I’m sure you can find a reason to come back earlier, maybe for our 11th birthday milonga in April.

It was once again a truly great event. It was great fun and it was smoothly run and absolutely beautiful in all the details. Visiting leaders were charming and friendly. I enjoyed many dances with visiting leaders including Bill, Nadim, Jarny, Mark, Mal, Trevor, Roger, Bob, Frank, Leonid and more. Thank you to organisers helpers and participants!
